PFLAG Academy Online: May 2025

People who are transgender and nonbinary (and their affirming families) are under attack—in state legislatures, in the media, and in schools. There has never been a greater need to have educated and engaged allies fighting for equality.

Join our upcoming PFLAG Academy Online virtual learning session, “Supporting Trans & Nonbinary Loved Ones: What Would You Do?”, on Wednesday, May 28th at 8:30pm ET / 5:30pm PT. In this session, we’ll review what advocates need to know to fight for their trans and nonbinary loved ones. Then we’ll put what we’ve learned to work and navigate real-world scenarios.

Today is Agender Pride Day!

Happy Agender Pride Day! 🖤🩶🤍💚

What does it mean to be “agender”?

Agender refers to a person who does not identify with or experience any gender. It differs from the term “nonbinary” in that nonbinary people may exist between or beyond the man-woman binary.

To our agender friends and loved ones: We see you, we support you, and we celebrate you!

Thursday, May 22nd is Harvey Milk Day

Harvey Milk was a visionary civil and human rights leader who became one of the first openly gay elected officials in the United States when he won a seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1977. Milk’s unprecedented and unapologetic proclamation of his authenticity was as much a beacon of hope then as it is now.

As we remember the life and legacy of Harvey Milk, we commit ourselves to his vision: “All young people, regardless of sexual orientation or identity, deserve a safe and supportive environment in which to achieve their full potential.” —Harvey Milk
