Dear Chapter Leader, In the weeks and months leading up to the election, you and your chapters worked tirelessly to get out the vote through our Love Votes campaign. You registered voters, educated them on the issues that matter to our community, and mobilized family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors to cast their ballots with love. This was a significant new level of work for PFLAG National—harkening back to our activist and advocate roots—and we are truly blown away by the outpouring of actions that took place. Hours after the election results were announced, over 150 organizations—including dozens of PFLAG chapters—signed onto a joint statement from the LGBTQIA2S+ community, co-drafted by PFLAG National’s Laura McGinnis and our other communications partners. As our CEO, Brian K. Bond, said in his statement reacting to the results of the election, “We will continue our work, showing up from the state house to the courthouse, the schoolhouse steps to the steps of the U.S. Capitol and Supreme Court.” In the immediate future, more and more work will be done in rapid-response mode, and we hope to have every one of our chapters and their members engaged. If you and your members are not signed up for our action alerts, please sign up now. Thank you for all that you do, Jamie Curtis (she/her) Vice President, Chapter & Communities Engagement |
