Dear Chapter Leader, With the election only one week away, it’s possible that PFLAG Chapter Leaders—who’ve all been so active and engaged with our Love Votes campaign—might receive requests from the media and press to speak on the record about the election, results and outcomes, what they’re seeing at the polls, volunteer GOTV efforts, and more. To that end, we’ve created a messaging brief and guidance—located in the Chapter Leader Messaging Resources in the Member Portal—to assist you with your election and post-election media requests. Whether you need guidance to handle a simple local request, someone to hand off a national press request, or anything in between, we’ve got sample questions, messaging, and more! We’ll update this election messaging brief as we learn more in the days (and weeks) after the election. Also: don’t forget our existing messaging and media briefs already in the Chapter Leader resources, including Talking About PFLAG, How to “Do Media”, and more. Need support on the media front? Reach out to Laura McGinnis (she/her), Sr. Manager, Press & PR, at lmcginnis@pflag.org. On another note: Many of you have had the privilege of working with Brooke Smith during her 19 years at PFLAG National. Friday, November 1st is Brooke’s last day at PFLAG National as she embarks on a new adventure in data and information systems management at another nonprofit in DC. I hope you will join me in wishing Brooke all the best and thanking her for her many years of service. Thank you for all that you do, Jamie Curtis (she/her) Vice President, Chapter & Communities Engagement |
