Dear Chapter Leader,

Exciting things are happening here at PFLAG National throughout August, and we want to make sure that, as chapter leaders, you have all of the information you need to participate.

We’ve circulated Regional Director ballots across seven regions—Pacific Northwest, Gulf, North Atlantic, Mountain West, Southern, Mid-Pacific, and South Atlantic—for you to vote for new and returning RDs. Please ensure that you and your chapter members get your ballots in by no later than Wednesday, August 21st. Later today, we’ll be sending you an invitation to our annual meeting, along with a ballot to cast your vote for PFLAG National Board members. We hope you’ll participate.

Next week, we are launching our PFLAG Votes 2024 campaign so that PFLAG members and supporters everywhere can help get out the vote and ensure that our LGBTQ+ loved ones and families will be safe and protected. To learn more about that, make sure you check out our August PFLAG Academy Online session (details below).

And finally, also this month, we have a DEI survey coming your way. We want to hear from you and all of PFLAG’s members about who you are, your DEI experiences at PFLAG, and how we can ALL work together to ensure that PFLAG is a place where everyone belongs.

August is going to be a busy month, so keep your eyes on your inboxes!

Thank you for all that you do,

Jamie Curtis (she/her)
Vice President, Chapter & Communities Engagement

Canva Updates

You may have noticed a few changes to our Canva team over the weekend. Canva made updates to their platform to make it even easier to create designs! You’ll see a review of the changes the next time you log in. You’ll also notice we made a few highly used folders easier to find. The state badges, chapter logos, and social media graphics for chapters are all now accessible on the Canva.com homepage. You can also now select a brand template when you click the “Create a design” button. Stay tuned for updated Canva How-To videos and tutorials with these updates.

Have questions or want to see a specific template added to our Canva team? Please reach out to branding@pflag.org. We’re happy to help.

Urban Think Tank Alert

We know urban chapters face specific challenges, so the Urban Think Tank is a peer-to-peer facilitated discussion space for chapter leaders from cities across the chapter network. August’s discussion topic will be advocacy.

Cities often have different politics than their surrounding areas, leading urban PFLAG chapters to have specific issues and needs. Whether this is a struggle or a success story for your chapter, come prepared to share and support other urban chapter leaders!

PFLAG National's Advocacy team will talk about our PFLAG Votes program, sharing their advice and expertise about how to get involved in the upcoming elections.

Join us at the next Urban Think Tank on Monday, August 19th at 5pm PT/8pm ET.
