Dear Chapter Leader,

With the summer heat overwhelming many of us I can't help but look towards the fall. One of the things I am most looking forward to is Learning With Love: The 2023 PFLAG National Convention taking place in Arlington, VA October 19-22. For those of you who have not attended an in person PFLAG Convention before, they are an incredible experience! In addition to workshops and speakers that are designed specifically for chapter leaders and members, the opportunity to connect with and share space with other PFLAGers from across the country is hard to describe. Networking and forming lasting bonds with other attendees is one of the many benefits to attending.  Also, with the convention back in the DC area for the first time in 10 years, attendees have the opportunity to lobby and make their voices heard on Capitol Hill.

If you are looking to learn more, network with peers and be energized for the work ahead, this is a great place for you to be. Learn more about Learning with Love: The 2023 PFLAG Convention and register online.

Thank you for all that you do,

Jamie Curtis (she/her)
Director of Chapter Engagement

International Self-Care Day

International Self-Care Day was established in 2011 to raise awareness about self-care by focusing on what it is, why it is important, and the benefits for individuals, families, and communities. It is now recognized by the World Health Organization as the culmination of Self-Care Month, which begins on June 24.

Join us this Thursday, July 27th for a rebroadcast episode of Something To Talk About Live where we discussed what self-care is and why it's so important in LGBTQ+ spaces with psychotherapist and social worker, Rahim Thawer.

PFLAG Academy Online: July 2023

Thursday, July 27th | 8:30pm ET/5:30pm PT: What the Plus? Understanding and Supporting Expansive LGBTQ+ Identities

Lesbian. Gay. Bisexual. Transgender. Queer. Simple, right? As allies become more engaged in LGBTQ+ spaces and advocacy, they often have questions about “the plus.” Please join PFLAG National for this 75-minute workshop to learn more about those identities that go beyond the LGBT basics - including nonbinary, pansexual, asexual, aromantic, intersex, and polyamorous.

We’ll discuss ways to demonstrate allyship and develop effective chapter programming. And we’ll help you get connected with organizations led by, and resources created for, those who hold these often invisible and underserved identities.
