Dear Chapter Leader,

Just a reminder for all of our grandparents: Next week is the launch of our newest PFLAG Connects: Communities (PCC) meeting: the PFLAG Connects: Grandparent Community! PCC provides safe, virtual, moderated spaces where people with shared experiences can connect each month. PFLAG National’s communities gather people to gain support, ask questions, and learn from others—and that’s exactly what this new community will do.

Our meetings will take place for 60 minutes on the last Monday of each month, at 8pm ET/5pm PT, beginning THIS COMING Monday, July 29th.

As with all PFLAG support groups, there are no dues, fees, or membership required to join. For the PFLAG Connects: Grandparent Community meeting, anyone who is a grandparent of an LGBTQ+ person is welcome to attend. We’re also excited to share that this meeting will include a Gender Spectrum Breakout Room especially for grandparents of transgender and gender-diverse grandkids

As always, the only requirement is to register in advance so that we can provide an even higher level of safety and support to attendees. Register now, and then get ready to join us next Monday, July 29th!

PFLAG Parent Day

This Sunday, July 28th is PFLAG Parent Day! Coinciding with National Parent Day, PFLAG Parent Day is a day to celebrate LGBTQ+ affirming parents and all the people who fill a parenting role for LGBTQ+ kids of all ages.

Your chapter can participate by selecting and sharing one of these social media graphics and encouraging your members and supporters to visit pflag.org/ParentDay to hear heartwarming stories from affirming parents, LGBTQ+ people, and more.

GLSEN School Climate Survey

GLSEN has recently launched the 2024 National School Climate Survey. This survey aims to understand the school experiences of LGBTQ+ youth. The insights gathered will inform our continuous efforts to create safe and affirming environments for LGBTQ+ youth in schools.

GLSEN needs your support in distributing the survey to LGBTQ+ youth in your communities and networks who are 13 years and older and attended middle/high school in the 2023-2024 academic year. They especially want to amplify the experiences of LGBTQ+ students of color, trans students, LGBTQ+ students in rural areas and so on.

Help spread the word virtually by using the social media toolkit (which includes sample post language and graphics), or print and share the flyer in color or flyer in black/white (these have QR codes and links to English and Spanish versions of the survey).

PFLAG Academy Online: July 2024

Thursday, July 25, 2024 | 8:30pm ET/5:30pm PT: Sharing Your PFLAG Story to Create Change

Knowing how to shape and effectively tell our PFLAG stories to soften hearts, change minds, and create a lasting difference is a skill that separates the talkers from the activists and advocates. And with an election coming up this November, that skill is more important than ever. This highly interactive, 75-minute session will teach participants how to pick a personal experience and develop it into an engaging, must-hear narrative that can help get out the vote (GOTV) in their communities!
