| | ALICE Active Shooter Response Training |
| While the gun violence that people have experienced has an impact on everyone in a community, for some groups -- including the LGBTQ+ community -- the threat of violence has become even more pronounced and frightening. In an effort to help prepare our chapter members to know how to respond should they encounter an incident in their work, PFLAG National will be hosting an interactive, virtual ALICE Active Shooter Response Training for PFLAG staff, board members, regional directors, chapter leaders, and chapter members in partnership with Navigate 360. Please register now. This three-hour learning session will cover topics including: - Ways to empower PFLAG members so they can participate in their own survival if they are ever in a space where a violent critical incident is occuring;
- Awareness and communications strategies such as developing situational awareness, recognizing the signs of danger, and providing real-time information to first responders;
- Response option strategies such as evacuation (when it is safe to do so), barricading entry points with enhanced lockdown tactics, and decreasing the intruder’s ability to cause harm; and
- Talking with family, friends, and community members about what you have learned.
Please note that this is a three-hour training that will be interactive and must be attended live (as Navigate360 does not allow ALICE trainings to be recorded, a recording will not be available). Space is limited, so please register early and keep your commitment to attend. Have questions about this event? Check out responses to some of the most frequently asked questions! |

| | | Media Support and Office Hours |
| As our chapter leaders receive more and more requests for press and media interviews, we want to ensure that you’re getting the best support possible from our team. I’m happy to share that, on the Chapter Leader Web Portal, we have provided a new section on media and press, providing more direct access to messaging briefs and talking points, how-tos for basic media requests, and more to help support and guide your efforts. Helpfully, you’ll also have guidance about what to say about PFLAG’s major themes for each quarter of the year, including how to talk about PFLAG’s 50th Anniversary. The first briefs are up, and more are being added each week, so be sure to keep that link handy! |

| The Second Annual HIV Criminalization Awareness Day Repealing laws that criminalize HIV and AIDS would help to lessen the stigma of living with HIV, encourage vulnerable populations to get tested, and end the epidemic sooner. It is also an issue that impacts the fight for gender equity, racial justice, and LGBTQ+ equality as women, BIPOC communities, and LGBTQ+ people are often unfairly targeted by these decades old laws. Join us this Thursday, February 23rd for Something to Talk About Live! |

| Thursday, February 23, 2023 | 8:30pm ET/5:30pm PT: Be Kind, Rewind: Creating a Kinder PFLAG Nearly everyone strives to be a more inclusive, kind leader, but getting it right is rarely easy. We are all products of our upbringing, environments, (un)conscious biases, and daily stressors. And while we may intend on being welcoming and inclusive, the impact of our actions may not be. In this learning session participants will focus on learning from the past, understanding the present, and clearly defining action items that will create positive change in the future. Register now!
