Dear Chapter Leader,

The PFLAG National staff is growing! I am excited to share some recent additions to our team. Abby Shuler (she/her) joined our team as the new Chapter Engagement Manager for the Southern Region. Abby is looking forward to connecting with our chapters in the Southern Region and will be reaching out soon.

Aaron Ridings (he/they) has joined our team as PFLAG National's new Executive Vice President. I am excited to welcome Aaron and his nonprofit expertise to the team.

We have also welcomed a new Director of Finance and Operations, Catherine Mbacho (she/her) and a new Learning and Inclusion Associate, Alex Hart (he/him). I hope you will join me in welcoming these new staff to PFLAG National!

Thank you for all you do,

Jamie Curtis (she/her)
Director of Chapter Engagement

IRS Update

The IRS is operational again! If you encountered issues over the past few weeks due to maintenance, please attempt to file again.

Not sure how to file? Follow these simple steps:

  • Visit the IRS 990-N filing page.
  • Review the provided information and click "Submit 990-N (e-Postcard button)" when ready.
  • Sign in with Login.gov using your username and password from previous years. If you're a new chapter, you might need to create an account. Avoid signing in with the ID.me option, as it's tied to your personal Social Security Number, not the chapter's EIN.
  • Enter the required information:
    • Your chapter’s employer identification number (EIN)
    • Tax year
    • Legal name and mailing address of the chapter
    • Any other names the organization uses
    • Name and address of a principal officer or person filing
    • Website address if the organization has one
    • Confirmation that the organization's annual gross receipts are $50,000 or less (yes/no answer)
    • If applicable, a statement that the organization has terminated or is terminating (going out of business)
  • After filing, save a copy of the confirmation page for your records. To ensure your submission was accepted, log back into the IRS system after about 10 minutes.

If you need assistance, don't hesitate to reach out to Angel Kearns (akearns@pflag.org).

Join us this Thursday, January 25, at 4:30pm ET/1:30pm PT for Something To Talk About Live!, where we will discuss “Black Joy Is For Black Queer Youth, Too,” with our special guest Sikivu Hutchinson, an American feminist, novelist, playwright and director, as our guest.
