Dear Chapter Leader,

Happy New Year! I hope that you had a restful and restorative new year and are ready for all of the work ahead. No one knows exactly what the next four years will bring, but we know that through it all PFLAG will be here. As a National organization, we will be here to support all of you as you support your communities. There will likely be tough times but we will all be in it together.

Thank you for all that you do,

Jamie Curtis (she/her)
Vice President, Chapter & Communities Engagement

Annual Chapter Responsibilities

Now that the holidays are behind us, it’s time to focus on wrapping up your annual responsibilities! As some of you may have noticed, the IRS 990-N filing portal is currently down for unexpected maintenance. We will provide updates on its status in our Tuesday chapter leader emails. If your chapter has not yet filed its 990-N e-Postcard, please keep checking the IRS website for the portal’s availability.

In the meantime, this is a great opportunity to get started on your Annual Report for our National office! PFLAG National requires your chapter to provide financial and other information to assist in our IRS reporting and data evaluation. The annual report form should be completed by your chapter board after you have completed your state and IRS filings and will likely take about fifteen minutes.

Rural Think Tank

Rural PFLAG chapters often are faced with the challenge of how to successfully outreach to and engage their communities in order to sustain and grow their chapters. If this has been a struggle or success story for your rural chapter, or if you’re wondering how to get started with community and member outreach and engagement, January’s facilitated peer-led discussion is for you! Register for the next Rural Think Tank on Tuesday, January 14th at 5pm PT / 8pm ET.
