Dear PFLAG Supporter,

We’re excited to announce our first Love Votes Week of Action, taking place the week of September 23rd! This initiative will center on voter registration and education. We’ll invite everyone to share on social media what their love is voting for this election and why voting with love is crucial. We will also host volunteer opportunities to leverage your relationships to help get out the vote in your communities and beyond! We will also host our September edition of PFLAG Academy Online, PFLAG Votes 2024: Know Your Rights as a PFLAG Voter, where we’ll delve into voting rights and host a Q&A session with a representative from the League of Women Voters. Stay tuned to next week’s Leadership Matters for more details!

Urban Think Tank Alert

We know urban chapters face specific challenges, so the Urban Think Tank is a peer-to-peer facilitated discussion space for chapter leaders from urban areas across the chapter network. 

August's topic will be growth and expansion in cities. When a PFLAG chapter is thriving and has a lot of capacity, the question becomes "What next? How do we grow?"

Has your chapter added another meeting? Have you set a goal to add social programming? Does your chapter have a Speakers Bureau or other strong educational programming? There are so many ways to grow beyond a monthly support meeting! Whether this is a struggle or a success story for your chapter, come prepared to share and support other urban chapter leaders!

As a reminder, in partnership with Promise54, PFLAG is gathering insights to help us determine where we are with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and to develop a plan to ensure that PFLAG is a place where everybody belongs. If you haven’t already, please complete a brief survey by Friday, September 19th, to share your experiences with DEI at PFLAG. All data collected from the survey will be anonymous.

A final reminder for all chapter leaders in AR, LA, OK, and TX: We want to see you and your chapter members at the Southern Regional Forum this Thursday, September 12 from 6-8:30 pm CT on Zoom! We’ll hear from the PFLAG National Advocacy team about our 2024 Love Votes campaign, learn about preventing suicide within our communities from our friends at Americans for Suicide Prevention,  and we’ll celebrate Chad’s final regional call as the Southern Region RD—as of October 1st, he will be our new Regional Director Council chairperson.
