As one of the busiest months in the PFLAG year approaches, we wanted to remind you that PFLAG National has resources to support you! If there’s something you need, it’s likely we have a template to use, an example from another chapter, or more information to get you started. These include facilitated discussions, updated resources in the Member Portal, collections of outside resources and more. Don’t reinvent the wheel - check out some of what PFLAG National has to offer below.

Urban Think Tank Alert!

The next Urban Think Tank is upon us! Join us on June 12th for a facilitated discussion with other chapter leaders from urban communities about serving large and diverse communities. Whether your chapter has struggled to support your whole city or whether you have success stories about meeting diverse needs, this space is for you! Register to attend:

Resilience Roundup

PFLAGers are often at the forefront of building communities of care and centering love and kindness across the country. Here are a few resources to help center resilience in your community! 

• Pieces of Me tells the story of Joslyn DeFreece, a successful writer, actress, daughter, friend and transgender activist. The film explores Joslyn’s journey as a kid growing up in a conservative midwestern family, and how she developed the pieces necessary to find self-acceptance, purpose, and sisterhood.
• The Queer Joy Collective is a nonprofit organization that supports building resilience, joy, and communities of care through centering art and fun. They feature opportunities for LGBTQ+ folks to participate in pen pal programs, host art contests, and share joy across their platforms. 
• PFLAG Connects: Books offer ideas for you to host #ReadWithLoveIns, book clubs, or other shared connections to promote connection and togetherness. There are many light and empowering options for centering resilience and positivity.

Creating Confident Leaders Resources!

Thanks to the folks who attended our Creating Confident Leaders: Effective PFLAG Chapter Boards PFLAG Academy Online session on April 30th! We discussed the ins and outs of PFLAG chapter boards including board roles, responsibilities, and best practices. Regardless of the state of your current board, we highly recommend checking out our toolkit for a huge list of resources, examples, templates, and ideas for strengthening your board!
