Dear PFLAG Supporter, I am writing today with some exciting news about one of our favorite people, Jean-Marie Navetta, PFLAG National’s Director of Learning & Inclusion and leader of PFLAG’s Straight for EqualityTM in the Workplace allyship program. After 17 years with PFLAG, Jean-Marie has decided it is time to examine new opportunities in her career. Beginning this August, you will find Jean-Marie at Out & Equal focusing exclusively on LGBTQ+ workplace equality as their Vice President of Education Programs. There is no way to overstate the impact Jean-Marie has had here at PFLAG. She has been an integral part of this organization and has given her heart and soul to PFLAG’s mission since 2006. “PFLAG will always hold an important place in my heart, and I’m grateful for the tremendous opportunities each PFLAG partner and supporter has given me these past 17 years,” said Jean-Marie. “Being a part of helping transform so many organizations through education has been one of the greatest honors of my life, and I look forward to seeing how PFLAG’s work grows and influences even more organizations in the future.” In 2007, Jean-Marie conceived of and founded PFLAG’s Straight for EqualityTM program, which has been—and will continue to be—the leading resource for global and national companies and leaders to create diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible workplaces and communities. Through her efforts, she and the PFLAG National Learning & Inclusion team have empowered thousands of people, teaching them skills to become LGBTQ+ allies for their coworkers and family members, redefining what allyship means in theory and practice, and transforming countless lives. While Jean-Marie’s expertise will be deeply missed, the programs she has built and the Learning & Inclusion team she has dutifully mentored will continue. I cannot wait to tell you more about where these programs are headed! But now is a moment to focus on my dear friend and colleague Jean-Marie Navetta, who will remain in her current role through the end of July.
