Dear PFLAG Supporter,

We are heartbroken witnessing the unspeakable violence in the Middle East unfold, the pain of the families whose loved ones are being held hostage, and the suffering and death of so many innocent people, especially children. At the end of October 2023 we were part of a broader statement made by the Council for Global Equality, a coalition led by organizations with expertise in foreign policy and of which PFLAG National is a member. In the time since that statement was published, we have continued to be horrified by the ongoing violence, as well as the escalation of dangerous, hateful rhetoric and Islamophobia, antisemitism, and xenophobia here at home.

We continue to join with the many voices of people of every race; ethnicity; and faith, spiritual, and secular traditions from around the world calling for a release of all hostages, an increase in—and safe passage for—humanitarian aid, and an immediate and sustained ceasefire to ensure that Israelis and Palestinians can begin a true process to peace and safety for all.

As PFLAG chapter leaders we encourage you to continue to do the work of PFLAG, meeting people where they are and rooted in intersectionality. Focus on your local communities and things within your control that can make an important and critical impact. Whether that’s reaching out to your neighbors who may be in need; contacting local synagogues, mosques, temples, and churches to participate in donation drives; or connecting with other local organizations to work in coalition serving and supporting impacted communities, each act will make a difference.

Here are just a few resources to get you started:

Ask how you can help. Be that ally. And as much as you can, keep leading with love.
