Hello Chapter Leaders, There is some news spreading surrounding a fake group targeting trans individuals, specifically trans youth, and we feel it’s important for you to be aware as PFLAG Chapter Leaders, and help spread awareness to protect our PFLAGers from being potential targets. This fake group, called “The Gender Unity Project,” is attempting to recruit families for a fake documentary on trans kids. We know that the group is a scam set up by anti-trans troll Matt Walsh, who this year has declared an “assault on gender ideology.” If you or anyone you know is contacted by Makenna Lynn Waters or Justin Folk, we strongly encourage you to not respond and forward such inquiries to comms@pflag.org. Rebecca Dobkowitz has also been trying to lure people in for Walsh. PFLAG National wants to provide quick ways you and others can become more aware of this situation and help spread the word: If this or similar events pop up in your local communities — or if you see this information being shared in your Facebook groups or elsewhere on social media — PFLAG National wants to know so we can provide the best support possible in addressing these issues together.
