LGBTQ+ people are valued, loved, and deserve the freedom to thrive. Through the Fighting for Our Pride campaign, PFLAG National is mobilizing advocates across the country to make sure lawmakers at every level hear our message loud and clear—because liberty and love are inseparable.

I write to you today because trans kids are being bullied by lawmakers. That’s the easiest way to put it. Instead of working on policies to improve the lives of their constituents, elected officials in states around the country, including right here in our home state, continue to waste time and tax dollars by dehumanizing our kids. They have brought forward bills to ban people who are trans from using the bathroom, from updating their legal I.D., from playing sports, and from accessing medical care. These bills are discriminatory. They are degrading. They are immoral. They are unkind. And you must oppose them. As a PFLAG member, I know firsthand how the political environment today is hurting trans kids like the ones in my life. I know how scared they are and how singled out they feel. Kids should get to be kids. They shouldn’t have to worry about what politicians will do to make their lives harder. So please, protect trans kids. Oppose efforts to limit their rights and their freedoms. Listen to parents who have trans kids talk about how supporting their children in being their true selves has helped those kids be happier and healthier.
