PFLAG Connects

Dear PFLAGer:

We’ve got brand-new ways to stay connected this week, including another edition of Something to Talk About Live. Did you miss last week’s broadcast? You can watch it here [facebook.com/PFLAG/videos/514528999260571/].

Support

PFLAG chapter leaders are nothing if not resourceful, and many of them are working to keep their chapters connected with their local community in new and innovative ways. From online support meetings to Facebook Live chats to conference calls and beyond, the PFLAG Chapter Network is working hard to engage, continuing to provide the crucial support they are known for.

As PFLAG National makes plans to launch a new nationwide digital program in support of the PFLAG Chapter Network--more news to come in the next week!--we’d like to hear from you: If you’ve connected with a local chapter--or are a chapter leader connecting with a new digital tool--what is helping you right now? What tools are working, which ones aren’t, and what have you learned so far? Share your feedback and insight with us via email at info@pflag.org.

Education

Three Steps to Being...

Just because you’re staying in doesn’t mean your vocal support for diversity and inclusion should slow down. So stay safe and take these steps to engage.

  1. Learn: Check out the resources available at pflag.org/inclusionanddiversity to help you take the next step on your diversity & inclusion journey.
  2. Watch: PFLAG Academy On Demand includes multiple sessions on creating more diverse and inclusive PFLAG Chapters including Powerful Partnerships: Making Diversity & Inclusion Successful in PFLAG Chapters and Family Acceptance Within Families of Color (encore presentation, May 2020).
  3. Share: Use social media to elevate resources--including films, books, media, activists/advocates, and organizations--that helped you learn more about the realities facing LGBTQ+ people of color and their families.

Advocacy

Take Action TOMORROW with #TransKids #SoFierce

Tomorrow is 31st--Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV)--and right now, the struggle for trans and nonbinary kids is even more intense, beyond the 200+ bills that have been brought to attack LGBTQ+ people. So help us elevate #TransKids #SoFierce!

Tomorrow, please share a video or post a photo and personalize your message. Remember to tag @PFLAG and, most important, use #TransKids #SoFierce--so we can help share your inspirational support of trans kids!

Visit pflag.org/transkidssofierce now for more information on how to share your PFLAG message of support!
