Dear PFLAG Supporter,

Understanding an organization's brand is crucial because it helps you comprehend its values, mission, and vision, which are essential components of its identity. As multifaceted as a personal identity can be, this is true for an organizational identity as well.

Brand identity refers not only to the visual elements such as its logo, color scheme, and typography, but also its voice, tone, messaging, and more.

All of these elements should be consistent across all marketing materials. As your chapter is looking to implement PFLAG’s new brand identity, we will continue to give you small actionable tasks to make this endeavor obtainable in your community.

Remember that our PFLAG Logo and Branding Assets are available to you and are a critical bedrock of this work.

By understanding all aspects of PFLAG’s brand, you will gain insights into our identity, values, and overall develop a strategy on implementing the shifts needed.

One Hour A Week to Branding Success

In last week’s issue of Leadership Matters we launched One Hour A Week to Branding Success, a seven-week strategy to do low-lift branding tasks that will take no more than an hour of your time. Last week we focused on Research to find all of the places your chapter has a presence on the web.

Week Two: Font Updates

This week’s task: Download and install our PFLAG fonts.

What do do with your hour:

  1. Log into the Chapter Leader Web Portal at using the following log-in credentials:
  2. Under “Essentials,” click the box on the right side of the screen to access our PFLAG Logo and Branding Assets/Support essentials.
  3. Click “Brand Fonts” to download a zip file of our full suite of fonts, and extract the folder of fonts.
    1. Learn more about how to extract files from a zip file on PC
    2. Learn more about how to extract files from a zip file on Apple
  4. Install the fonts to your computer. Note: there are some brand fonts that are already native to Google and Microsoft, including our secondary fonts (which should only be used if our primary fonts are not available).
    1. Learn more about how to install fonts on a PC
    2. Learn more about how to install fonts on an Apple

Did you install all of the PFLAG fonts to your computer? SUCCESS! You’re done for the week.

Regional Roundup: Letter from the Chapter Engagement Intern

My name is Levi, I use they/them pronouns, and I have been PFLAG National’s Chapter Engagement Intern since September. There’s two things I want to say right off the bat: first, I am from Texas so that was an unironic howdy, and second, just because my boss told me to write this doesn’t mean I don’t genuinely believe everything I’m about to write.

Prior to this internship, I could count on one hand the number of openly LGBTQ+ adults I had met. Working with PFLAG National has given me dozens of coworkers, friends, and mentors. Getting to know about Sachelle’s dogs, Eddy’s passion for laser tag, Shaun’s taste in music, and Ruadhan’s permanent Halloween decorations have helped me to believe that I really do have an amazing future ahead of me.

My Main Reasons For Applying to The PFLAG National Internship:

  • I wanted to give back to a community that has already given me so much.
  • I wanted to work for an organization where I could be myself without fear or compromise.

I had the pleasure of meeting with PFLAG Dallas, related to the Equality Texas AIFE Lobby Day. Hearing and seeing the passion, determination, and joy that PFLAGers have for what we do together was thrilling. PFLAG brings together people from all kinds of backgrounds and communities, and I think few things benefit LGBTQ+ youth more than intergenerational connections that show that not only do LGBTQ+ people have futures, they are beautiful and full futures, just as real as anyone else’s.

I can’t speak highly enough of my time with PFLAG National (and if you happen to be or know a college student - consider applying!), the work we do, and the absolutely wonderful people I have met here.

Stay safe,

Sachelle Brooks (she/her)
