| Dear PFLAG Supporter, We hope you saw our announcement: The time has come for PRIDE PACKS, ROUND 2! The deadline for signup is Sunday, March 19th, so get in early and get yours! We’ve got bracelets, fans, buttons, flags, and—most especially—banners and table runners, personalized just for your chapter! (See more on these two important items below.) Banners will be personalized with your chapter logo and one or two icons of your choice. On the signup form you will have the opportunity to select your icons from our icon presentation deck. You may choose ANY two icons offered, including icons from regions other than your own. In order to get your Pride Pack on or before Friday, May 5, please speak with your board members, reach consensus on your banner icons, and then have only one chapter leader fill in this form. In order to get your personalized items for your chapter, it’s important that you fully read the instructions on the signup form, and take action by the deadline, Sunday, March 19th. Chapters that miss this deadline are NOT guaranteed to receive these boxes by May 5th. Ready to sign up for all of the great #PFLAGProud swag, including your personalized banners and table runners? Visit pflagnation.al/pridepack23-round2 to get started. |
| | Regional Roundup As you’re preparing for Pride season with newly branded PFLAG materials, a few notes that may be helpful as you gear up for the season! In a nonprofit, fiscal sponsorship refers to incubating or fostering another organization, project, or entity that does not have its own nonprofit status. The majority of PFLAG chapters are unable to provide fiscal sponsorship due to being included in our IRS nonprofit group exemption. Hosting Pride is outside of the scope of PFLAG's mission and is, in many cases, considered fiscal sponsorship. In addition, hosting these events brings a number of liabilities and concerns that chapters are not designed to handle. PFLAG chapters should not be the primary sponsor of Pride in your community. If your chapter is currently planning on hosting a Pride, please reach out to me so we can make sure the appropriate arrangements for your chapter are made. Wondering what ways you can engage with your community to celebrate PFLAG and Pride? - March and table at a Pride event hosted by another organization
- Share your PFLAG story as a speaker during a Pride performance event
- If applicable, uplift or volunteer with other organizations’ Pride events
- Host a Read With Love-in
- Attend a special event, like an interfaith breakfast or social hour representing PFLAG
- Represent PFLAG by marching and tabling at another community parade or festival, like Memorial Day or the Fourth of July
Safety During Pride Season As you make your plans to attend in-person events with your chapter this Pride season, keep safety a top priority! As chapter leaders you have an obligation to help prepare and protect our people as best we can, especially as communities come together to collaborate and support each other. In an effort to help prepare PFLAG chapter leaders and members to know how to respond should they encounter an incident in their work, PFLAG National will host an interactive, virtual ALICE Active Shooter Response Training with Navigate 360. Please register now, and be sure to contact Jamie Henkel as soon as possible if you need to amend your registration. Please note that this is a three-hour training that will be interactive and must be attended live. Space is limited. Don’t forget we always have our PFLAG National safety resources that should be utilized by your chapter leadership. |
